Women's Cardiovascular Health Symposium

Women's Cardiovascular Health Symposium

Save the Date! April 27, 2018
The aim of this course is to provide up-to-date information about the cardiovascular care of women of all ages for health care providers. On the same day, and often with the same speakers, there is a course with similar topics for the community. The concept is to educate women and their health care providers with much of the same information. The community course is interactive and stresses healthy lifestyle issues. The professional conference is a CME conference assembling experts in the field to discuss the latest advances and research. Both courses have been well received by their respective audiences.
Chicago Cardiovascular Update

Chicago Cardiovascular Update

Save the Date! July 19-21, 2018
This meeting will adopt an evidence based, guideline driven update of the critical domains in cardiovascular medicine. Our world-renowned faculty and guest speakers will deliver seminars on hypertension, prevention, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, and acute coronary syndrome. Significant new data and summaries of guidelines will represent the platform for our discussions. A recurring feature of the summer program is the link with the American College of Cardiology. We have traditionally hosted the outgoing ACC president to provide a “what’s new in the ACC” lecture. We also have acquired ACC co-sponsorship and will once again offer Maintenance of Certification for all attendees. This benefit is embedded in the registration fee. MOC is facilitated by a series of IT support services including real-time Q & A via a moderated iPAD as the questions are reviewed and an unique Northwestern Medicine CV CME APP to aid in navigation of MOC questions.
Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension

Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension

Save the Date! August 3, 2018
While pulmonary hypertension remains a challenging disease, there has been an increased awareness by clinicians from the routine use of diagnostic tools such as Doppler echocardiography and the availability of the many pulmonary vasodilator drugs. Because it is uncommon, it is difficult for physicians to develop sufficient experience and expertise unless they are part of a specialty center. The etiology can be multifactorial, making it difficult to know the dominant cause in some patients and thus requires a meticulous approach to arrive at the correct diagnosis. The program is designed to increase knowledge of the presentation and diagnosis of the different etiologies of pulmonary hypertension and address ways to implement the latest practice guidelines into clinical practice. The program is designed to improve the competence of physicians in managing patients who present in the community, and know when to refer to specialty centers for advanced care.
