Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute Ranked Best in US

In an accomplishment unmatched by any other hospital in the country, Northwestern Memorial Hospital's cardiovascular program, led by the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute and within it the Division of Cardiology led by Charles Davidson, MD and Clyde Yancy, MD, is ranked first or second for survival of patients suffering from the three most significant cardiovascular health threats: heart failure, heart attack and stroke.

Department of Medicine Ranked No. 17 in NIH Funding by Blue Ridge Institute

2016's ranking is the highest ever for the department, with NIH awards totaling nearly $75 million dollars.  The No. 17 ranking represents a noteworthy jump from our No. 34 ranking in 2006 and No. 24 ranking in 2011.

Dunaif to lead Division of Endocrinology, Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai

The Department offers its congratulations and most sincere thanks to Andrea Dunaif, MD, Charles F. Kettering Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism, who has accepted a leadership position at the Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai Health System, where she will serve as Chief of the Hilda and J. Lester Gabrilove Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Diseases, beginning May 1.

A reception to thank Dr. Dunaif and bid her farewell will be held today, Tuesday, April 25th, from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Method Atrium of the Tarry Building.

The Department congratulates Richard M. Pope, MD, Solovy-Arthritis Research Society Professor in the Division of Rheumatology, who has been named the recipient of the 2017 Tripartite Legacy Faculty Prize for excellence in research that emphasizes translational approaches, teaching, mentoring and leadership.

Digestive Health Center Leads Charge for Esophageal Cancer Screening

April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month and NM’s Digestive Health Center, including leaders in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, are advocating the importance of screening.
