Director's Message
Welcome to the website of the Northwestern Medicine Asthma & COPD Program. Thank you for your interest in our program. Our team is committed to conducting patient-oriented research in an effort to improve Northwestern Medicine clinical care of people living with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
We believe that clinical research should focus on advancing the practice of medicine and improving the quality of patient care. We pursue these goals through collaboration with other reputable healthcare community members, including the National Institutes of Health, the Respiratory Health Association, the COPD Foundation, the American Lung Association and device and pharmaceutical companies. Our goal is to participate in a significant number of diverse research studies that produce new treatments and better health outcomes for the patients of our affiliated clinical practice at Northwestern Medical Group, where they recieve state-of-the-art clinical care. We also aim to have a wide enough research portfolio for all patients interested in participating are eligible for at least one of our studies.
Clinical trials are an important part of finding new ways to treat and study diseases like asthma and COPD. Our clinical studies cover a wide range of research investigating the problems and symptoms that asthma and COPD patients face every day. Our research focuses on improving the lives of patients through health outcomes and treatment evaluation as well as through the development of new medications and procedures.
